2013/12/04: RoFo Bus Tour

I already wrote about Rob Ford one month ago. Another Rob Ford post in my blog? Yes, I have to.

Last Sunday, Gunnar and I took part in the “RoFo Bus Tour”. Rob Ford’s high school; the Catholic school at which Rob Ford coached football; the “crack house” where the video that shows Ford smoking crack cocaine was filmed; the Ford family business; the gas station where Rob Ford had a pattern of meetings with now imprisoned Alexander Lisi: very important places in the career of Toronto’s lovely mayor are presented by a group of comedians. Sounds like “we have to do this before we leave Toronto in some weeks”, doesn’t it?

At the 11.10 AM tour, there were three organisers, three other guests and a three person City News camera team sitting together with us in a minibus. Yes, City News! We made it into Canadian television: watch this video; at second 32 you’ll see a guy with a red jacket taking a picture. Do you recognize him?

The tour in itself was funny, but not really interesting – besides the fact that we’ve seen the famous crack house (it’s at 15 Windsor Drive, if you also want to see it) and the surprise that there are really expensive villas in the part of Etobicoke where the Ford brothers grew up.

There are three things that made the tour special: 1.) a neighbour of the crack house running wild and calling the police; 2.) a member of the Comedian Group running wild and kicking a participant, who was fed up with the tour, out of the bus, followed by a unnecessary street fight that made some car drivers stopping and watching; 3.) Doug Ford, city councillor and Rob Ford’s brother, himself! Really!

We made a stop at Douglas B. Ford Park, a Park called after the Ford brothers’ father; a Park in which Rob Ford had a meeting with Alexander Lisi under police surveillance. Part of the tour was that Rob Ford mimic Dave McKay came out of this park, holding an empty bottle of Vodka, acting as a drunken Rob Ford. All of a sudden his brother Dug Ford came from the other side. Another impersonator? No, the real Doug Ford! You can see him in the above mentioned video. Or you watch my own video. First you see Doug Ford, then you see the scene where one of the participants is being kicked out of the bus (which they didn't show at City News).

Here are some more pictures of the tour and of Doug Ford:

On the next day, we expected the video of City News showing our tour. But there obviously happened much more after our tour was finished, a “stalking scandal” is bothering the newspapers and online media in Toronto. What happened? Doug Ford, who acted really friendly and humorous to our group, called some hours later the police, accusing Dave McKay, who spent some more hours near Ford’s house, waiting for the next tour groups, of stalking Ford’s 80-year-old mother. Later, Doug Ford and Rob Ford probably followed McKay for about 15 minutes when he was driving back to Royal York Station, until McKay was stopped by Toronto Police. You think I’m telling you a fairy story? You don’t believe that the Ford brothers are that crazy?

Then read the Toronto Star’s article “Doug Ford accuses Mayor Rob Ford impersonator of “stalking” his mother”.

Or read The National Post’s article “Rob Ford impersonator at centre of bizarre ‘stalking’ complaint from Doug Ford claims he was followed by mayor

Or read Toronto Sun’s article “Star stalking mom: Doug Ford”.

Yes, it is true. And we’ve been a part of it. Great experience. Crazy brothers.
