Wild West; Route 66; Grand Canyon; Grand Canyon Railway; Cowboy Show; train robbery; ponderosa pine forests; live (country) music in the train and in front of the restaurant. It’s been a funny (though rainy) day. No big city, no freeway, no traffic jam, no skyline. Just nature (and tourists, lots of tourists).
One of the most famous places on earth, Grand Canyon, is part of many North America travel plans. Although it is almost 400 km long, most of the yearly 5 mio tourists concentrate in one small village at the Southern Rim. Yes, it is touristy; yes, it is expensive; yes, it is crowded; yes, there were a thunderstorm and heavy rain. Anyway, it’s great. Everybody should have seen it, it’s so fascinating what nature (i.e. water) has created over millions of years. Should I ever come back here, I will spent more time and hike into the canyon. For today I’m absolutely satisfied.
