Saskatchewan, “the bread basket of Canada”, located between Manitoba and Alberta. 12% of the total world demand for wheat is produced here. Some lakes suffering from eutrophication, wheat fields, grasses, wheat fields, a grain elevator tower, a gravel road, a mining area, wheat fields, a small river, some trees, another wheat field. For the constructors of the first trans-Canada railway the section through the prairies had been the easiest one. For today’s passengers it is the least spectacular one. Thankfully VIA Rail set the schedule in a way that we cross the most boring part of the prairies during the night. When I wake up tomorrow morning, there’s the chance that I can already see the Canadian Rockies at the horizon.
